How to build an electrical estimate

Start with the customer, job address, estimate number, job name, and a specific scope of work. Then enter each major material or equipment item with its quantity and cost. Add electrician and helper hours, internal labor costs, and the rates charged to the customer. WireWise combines those entries with material markup, permit charges, other costs, and material tax to calculate the customer price and estimated gross profit.

The completed document shows the customer, job, issue date, expiration date, scope, itemized charges, total, and requested deposit. Review it on screen before printing or saving it as a PDF.

What should an electrician estimate include?

Example estimate workflow

For a kitchen lighting upgrade, list fixtures, cable, boxes, controls, connectors, and consumables. Enter the expected installation and helper hours, then add permit fees and material markup. The job snapshot shows the proposed customer price, estimated job cost, gross profit, and gross margin before overhead and income taxes. If the number is too low, adjust the assumptions before sending the estimate - not after winning the work.

Estimate accurately without slowing down

A fast estimate is only useful when its assumptions are visible. WireWise keeps material cost, customer material price, internal labor cost, customer labor rate, and other costs separate. That makes it easier to see whether a low total came from missed material, underestimated hours, or insufficient markup.

Use actual supplier prices and your real labor burden whenever possible. Site conditions, permits, utility requirements, tax treatment, licensing rules, and consumer-contract requirements vary by location. The generator supports the pricing process; it does not replace project review or local legal requirements.
